About Amylou

THE PAST

Hi!  I'm Amy.  Welcome to my store!  I'm a wife, a mother of two, and a business owner!    In 2004, I graduated from St. Louis University's Business School as a Management Information Systems major.  I worked in the IT field for a few years, then happily quit my job after I had my first baby, Benjamin in 2008.  Although I found IT interesting, it just wasn't the right fit for me.  It wasn't personal enough, it wasn't REAL enough, and I wasn't passionate about it.   Although becoming a stay-at-home-mom was a difficult adjustment and cut our family's income in half, it was worth seeing the tangible fruits of my labor as I watched my baby grow into a little boy. 

THE PRESENT

Now that I've gotten the hang of being a mom, I'm ready for my next challenge - being a business owner.  I had my second baby in 2010, a beautiful baby girl.  While searching for the perfect double stroller, I came across a "baby convention" in Chicago.  I've never seen so many cute little baby girl accessories in all my life.  I didnt' even know such things existed - flower headbands, tutus, monogramed onesies, etc.  Right then the creative wheels in my head started spinning.  I was already creating all kinds of headbands and colorful tutus in my head.  Now, I just needed to make them.  And so I did.  And here we are.  Now I have a store full of goodies just waiting to make your baby girl fabulous!

THE FUTURE

Right now, I'm an online shop.  I would eventually like to travel to different conventions and set up booths, or even opening a physical store here in St. Louis.  We'll just have to see how things go with my online store first.  I'd love for Amylou to expand in the future!  In 2005, I started making jewelry as a hobby, giving my pieces out as gifts to family and friends.  Someday, there will be an Amylou Jewelry line :)
